Play A Round Inside
April 30, 2009
Golf Simulators are a hot reasonably new product. Essitentially, a golfer can use his own real clubs and a real ball and literally play a round of golf inside. These simulators use a variety of sensors to detect velocity, trajectory, and spin. The golf shots are then project on a screen and then the player contiunes his or her round. Also, it allows a golfer to choose a venue such as St. Andrews or Augusta National.
This is a great technological break through. It is easy to use and it allows a realistic simulation of a round of golf from one’s own home. I think the developers should take it one step further which would make this simulator really apply to informatics. I think they should install a program where a golfer can build a profile which stores statistics such as average score, average distance on drives, total holes played, best scores, etc. It would give the user a lot of information, and it would be easy to track his or her progress. An analysis of this information can lead to better scores.
